2015 Class Handouts
This wiki contains information from programs I have presented at Ohio Library Council Chapter Conferences about Worthington Libraries' English Conversation Group. You will find a session handout, as well as all the class handouts we have used in class, beginning in Jan 2007 through the present year 2013. We do not have all the pronunciation guidebook sheets included because it is in a paper format but in our handout, you can see how you can get this guide for free from Northeast ABLE. Please feel free to use our weekly handouts and modify them as you see fit.
In the changing landscape of library service, libraries are implementing many new types of service. This has included chat and roving reference, outreach programs and partnerships with community businesses, schools & organizations and the use of new technologies. Additionally, many are also offering new typs of programs for their patrons. At Worthington Libraries this has included an English Conversation Group. In response to requests from the community and after research to determine the need, Worthington Libraries launched a pilot English Conversation Group in Spring 2006. Based on its success, this became a regular ongoing program starting in January 2007. This new service has been a fantastically rewarding and invigorating part of my weekly responsibilities as the librarian in charge of it. With this presentation and wiki, we’ve tried to give you the “who”, “what”, “when” and “how” of running an English Conversation Group because if your library is not offering one now, you may do so in the future.
Classes currently taught by Jennifer M, Alison N, and Meredith W. on a rotating basis.
Please also note additional handouts such as our Spanish language library card application and a handout we created for patrons that shows other local English Conversation Groups in our service district.
Thank you! - Astrid
